IPods in school update

The Michigan Lawmakers that made the trip to Apple's Headquarters, have payed the company back the cost of the trip. The move was to stop the talk that Apple payed for the trip to win a educational contract to put IPods in schools. One Lawmaker said that the IPod proposal was never meaningful. My question is which is worse the fact that Apple payed for a trip to win a educational contract, or the fact Lawmakers implied a contract was available to get a free trip ?
