I was watch the geekbrief podcast the other day and heard about a company called Psystar. They are building low cost desktops that will run the Apple OS along with Windows and Linux. I went to their site and was very interested in what they are doing. The base model is not a bad system it has a 2.2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 CPU, 2GB of ram, DVD RW, and a 250GB hard drive for $399.99. I found some things I did not like the base mode does not come with a keyboard, mouse or firewire and it comes with Ubuntu installed but to add Leopard it will cost $155.00. I am not sure that this is a better deal than the mac mini but it is a good alternative.
